Practice Areas

Commercial Litigation. We regularly represent clients in ancillary proceedings related to ongoing litigation, including grand jury and federal regulatory investigations, and internal corporate investigations. We also have a focus on business torts, involving such matters as confidentiality and trade secrets, restrictive covenants, unfair competition and employee disloyalty. We have represented corporate officers and directors of both profit and nonprofit organizations against claims of breach of fiduciary duty and other torts. Our litigators have tried numerous cases to verdict, in both the state and federal courts, and are also experienced appellate litigators.

Environmental Law. We represent clients in all aspects of Brownfield redevelopment and environmental compliance and litigation, including the defense of civil actions instituted by federal and state agencies and various citizen groups involving alleged violation of federal and state statutes, and the defense of toxic tort cases and property damage actions. We have also been retained as common counsel in multi-party environmental matters; represented clients in superfund cost recovery actions; handled administrative notices of violation before various federal and state agencies; and counsel on permit and development issues as well as various compliance issues in advance of suit and/or administrative action.

Labor and Employment. Our practice is focused in the areas of employment law and litigation, and defense of consumer class actions. As advisor to management, we assist employers in creating and maintaining a positive relationship with employees. We advise on workplace policies and practices and provides counsel for decision-making in compliance with federal and state laws that govern the workplace. When a dispute results in judicial or administrative action, we have represented employers against charges filed with the EEOC or with the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. We also regularly defend employers in court actions alleging discrimination or harassment, involving restrictive covenants, or raising other issues under employment contracts.

Corporate. We counsel all types of business entities on a broad range of corporate and commercial issues. Our clients range from individuals and family-held businesses as well as large public and private organizations, acting essentially as an outside general counsel and business advisor. We provide advice to clients on business structural, corporate, real estate, contractual, tax, and merger and acquisition matters. We also represent both lenders and borrowers on commercial financing matters and frequently advises start-up clients in the capital formation and fundraising stages of development.

International Business. Our attorneys offer transactional and litigation services for corporations and other entities, with special attention on foreign-owned businesses seeking to establish, maintain or expand their presence in the United States. We also handle issues with international implications, such as compliance with the requirements of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Bank Secrecy and PATRIOT Acts, and matters involving the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security.
