Buchanan's downtown San Diego office represents clients in most areas of business-related law, water law and litigation in both private and public sectors. We have represented a range of clients, from providing litigation counsel to AccentCare, one of the country's largest in-home health care providers, to serving as water counsel to the City of Carlsbad in its desalination matters.

With regard to water law, our downtown San Diego office has significant experience negotiating and documenting the purchase, sale or lease of adjudicated groundwater rights, groundwater, privately owned water systems, shares in mutual water companies and public/private partnerships for municipal water systems. We also handle agreements for the manufacture and sale of membranes and spiral-wound elements for use in desalination facilities and agreements regarding desalination facilities including: without-limitation agreements regarding the purchase of desalinated seawater, water transfer agreements and agreements for the treatment of contaminated groundwater. Our clients have included Basin Water, Inc., South Pacific Tuna Corporation, Chicken of the Sea International and FCF Fishery Company, Ltd.

Our business services include corporation and business formation planning, financing and credit transactions (including municipal finance), joint ventures, partnerships, contracts, purchase and sale agreements, syndication, securities and licensing.

Our litigation services focus primarily on commercial and business law, antitrust, construction (including mechanics liens and stop notices) and construction defects, intellectual property, banking, eminent domain, real estate, employment and labor law, securities fraud, RICO (including litigation resulting from criminal and civil charges by government regulatory agencies), and criminal investigations of companies and financial institutions.
